Sharing PST files between Desktop and laptop via server Hard Disk

I would like to be able to use my Outlook from either my desktop (running XP
Home and Office 2003) andf my laptop (running Vista Home Premium and Offce
2007) using a networked hard disk

I have put my PST file on the HD and can see the file from both my desktop
and laptop using Windows Explorer and I can open the PST from my desktop
version of Outlook, but I cannot open the PST file using the Outlook 2007 on
my laptop.

If I try to open from the tools / accounts options, then I get the error
message: "unknown error occured, error code 0X80070006". If I try to open
using the File / Open Outlook File option, then I get the error message: "Out
of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programmse and try
again" - despite the fact that nothing is open by Outlook.

If I try to create a new PST file from Outlook 2007 on the server HD, then
the process hangs then the final OK to create the file is clicked.

I know this should work and I am obviously not doing something right, but I
can find no help on MS support area.

How can I get this to work

Don't go this route. Connecting to a pst-file on a network share in not
supported nor recommended by Microsoft as it could lead to poor performance,
data corruption or even complete data loss.

Depending on your needs, you might want to consider this sync utility
instead;

The use of a pst over a network/Lan is not supported by MS as it can lead to
corruption/loss of the pst
www.slipstick.com has some methods/utilities for synching

share a pst on a network - you may end up with a corrupt pst. You also
can't access the st with both outlook's at the same time.
