Sharing Program Files

I have several machines in home, that have all drives shared. I want to be
able to get to the Program files filder and all sub directories. I get the
access denied error message.

I understand tha tI need to disable simple file sharing, but need step by
step instructions on how I need to set up further to allow access to the
program files directories.

ASSUMING YOU HAVE CONFIGURED ALL COMPUTERS to be joined to a domain or
workgroup: Windows prevents sharing of the Windows and Program Files
directories. if you wish to share the contents of these, you must drag and
drop the individual files and folders you wish to share to the "shared files
and folders" directory. Alternateively, you may right click on each of the
subdirectories of "Prgram Files"and select sharing and security. from there,
you would click to enable sharing across the network and then enter a share
name. It would then be your option whether you wish network users to modify
the files and folders.

Under network connections, you need to select your network adapter that
connects you to your local or wide area network. check to ensure that the
"file and printer sharing" protocol is installed and selected.

My question is, why would you wish to do this anyway? You can't just run
(most) applications from a remote computer. And if these are programs that
were written by developers who for some reason thought "Program Files\My
Program\Subfolder" was a really great place to store *data*, see if you can
move it elsewhere - I don't think user created data files belong in that
folder.
