Sharing Printer to a Windows XP Machine

P

Patrick B Cox

I have 2 PCs that are connected through a Lynksis Router. One machine is an
XP and the other is a Windows 2000 machine. I know the 2000 machine can
talk to the XP machine because I have an external drive and printer that are
connected to the XP machine that the 2000 machine can use. However I am now
trying to share a printer from the 2000 machine to the XP machine and the XP
machine can't get access. When I try to add the printer to the XP machine,
I am prompted to enter a user name and password and I can't seem to get past
this point. I am not sure why I am being prompted for a user name anyway.
Any ideas on how to tackle this?

Thanks!!

Windows 2000 doesn't recognize the user on XP who wants to access its
shared printer.

Create a user account on the 2000 machine with the same user name and
password that you use to log onto the XP machine.
