Can anyone help me to know better why i can't access from
a 6th computer to a shared drive?

I don't know if it is the Home edition and i have to get
Professional

I have 7 computers, one is serving as a Host, Drive C is
shared on it, and i have 6 other computers, 5 works good
when i access to the drive, but the 6th one, i got an
error saying that there's already as many connections
that the computer can handle...

Any sugestion of what i could do?

THANK YOU.

XP Home supports only 5 concurrent connections - and one guest computer may
have more than one connection open, note, so it isn't really "per computer".
XP Pro supports 10 concurrent connections. You might try upgrading the
'host' compuuter to Pro. Beyond that, you'll need a server.

I believe 5 is the limit. Also, I believe 10 is the limit on XP Pro.

That's right. The limit is the number of other computers that may
connect simultaneously to an XP computer's shared resources.
Computers that aren't actively connected to an XP computer's shared
resources don't count against the limit. When a computer disconnects
from a shared resource, it no longer counts against the limit. See

Hmm, are you *sure* about that?

It's been a while since I tested this, but I seem to recall that the limit
was *per machine*, and that a machine could have multiple connections
without counting towards the limit.

I may be remembering wrong, but I did spend sometime testing this feature
just to determine this.
It was quite a long time ago, though.

Pretty sure, yes. But I will also admit that I tend to avoid workgroup
setups beyond one or two computers, so don't hold me to it.
