Sharing contacts

Hi!

I am asking for your help to share the contacts folder between all the
employees in a company.

We need to have one single Address book shared between everybody. That would
be the default Address book and all the contacts that any employee adds,
should be added in this shared Address book instead of their personal Address
book.

The problem is that when you add a new contact (using the right button in
the From box) he/she is added in your personal contacts folder, not the
shared one.

I hope I have properly explained the issue. If not, please ask for more info.

Thanks in advance,
Xavier

Do you have an Exchange server? If so, use the Global Address List or a
public Contacts folder. If not, see the following for sharing options:

Brian,

Yes, we have Exchange Server. The drawback of using the Global Address List
is that it offers less data fields and it also offers less search
capabilitites.

That is why we would like to use the Personal Address Book (the one at the
right hand, in Outlook's bar) as the global one.

You suggest that we use a public Contacts folder. If we choose tha method,
will the contacts be added to this folder or to the Personal one when the
user tries to add a contact from the 'From' text box in a message? And when a
user types a name in the 'To' texbox, will Outlook find these addresses or
will only look in the Personal folder?

Thank you for your help.

Outlook has no "personal Address Book" any more. Are you speaking of
Contact folders? I've never seen Outlook's Navigation Pane (or Outlook Bar
in older versions) on the right side.

Right-clicking a sender address and choose Add to Contacts will add it to
the Contacts folder in the delivery location data store (i.e., the Contacts
folder in the same folder set where your Inbox is located). Public folders
can never serve as delivery locaitons.

You are right. Sorry. I meant the left side.
And yes, I am talking about the Contacts folder.

Thank you.
