Sharing computer programs

I have several software programs that I have on my desktop as computer
administrator. I would like to make these programs available to the other
Limited Users on the computer. I have attempted to access the programs while
signed on under their screen names, but I cannot access them. In particular I
am having trouble finding Microsoft Word and Windows Explorer.

Many software programs use installation routines that are not "Multi-User aware".
Therein lies the problem. Try placing a shortcut to the program in the All Users account
(C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs). This should make the
program available to all users.

Although some programs still give me problems (Quicken!!) ... I've found
that if you ALWAYS install software as the Administrator ( I mean you have
to be logged on as the user NAMED Administrator), the installation effects
all users. Shortcuts appear on everyone's desktop & it seems to work OK.

I found a little exe on the net that made the 'Administrator' user appear on
the XP style logon screen but can't remember where I got it. Without that
feature, you have to swtich back to conventional login so that you can type
in 'Adminstrator' as the user.

I soemtimes find that portions of the installs need to be run again. It
depends on the implementation.

You're referring to TweakUI, but it will not make the Admin account
available to XP Home outside of Safe Mode. And you often can't run
installs in Safe Mode.
