Sharepoint and Homepages

I am not new to Frontpage, but I am new to Sharepoint. I just installed the
WSS on a site with a new hosting company and now when I go to the site I have
to login before I can even see the site. I would like a home page with the
option of a link going to the sharepoint site. How do I do this?

I believe where I messed up is making the sharepoint site on the root
directory. If I am correct, I have to set up the regular site on a different
directory then the sharepoint site and then ensure that the DNS is pointing
to the regular site. Is this correct? Or is there a way, with the
sharepoint site - to set it up that anyone typing in my webname to get to the
sharepoint site without logging in.

Thanks,

Hi Chief.

Are the permissions on the sharepoint site set to allow "Anonymous Browsing" ??

As for the DNS servers, they don't care what type of site it is, they simply convert the
domain name, www.mysite.com to an IP address.

Steve,

First and foremost - Small world - Especially in the Chief's Mess. Thanks
for your reply. I do believe that it was set for browsing, but I will check.
I am currently having the company reset my entire account as I totally
screwed it up.

But if and when I get back on the site, all I have to do is have it set to
anonymous browsing?

Thanks Again Brother-
Kevin

The host should have already set it for anonymous browsing when they set up the domain
account.
If it's prompting for a password, there's an incorrect permissions setting on the server.

As for the small world, yes it is.
Are you still active or retired??
I retired in '93
