Shared Printer does not print.

I have a Lexmark Z32 connected to an X64 XP Pro machine by a USB cable. I
have shared this printer. Other XP home machines on the network can see the
printer and print to it. But nothing prints and one gets an error message
about the failure to print.

I see nothing in the print queue on the local machine.

File sharing is enabled and works.

I have the default settings concerning firewall on my x64 machine. I have
disabled the firewall on one of my XP Home machines but not the other.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Under the Sharing section on the Z32 on the x64 PC, did you add 32-bit Z32
drivers? XP Home cannot use 64-bit drivers, just as x64 cannot use 32-bit
drivers.

Cari, No I did not. I thought this was the problem and have been asking on
these newsgroups for a location for the drivers. I have no clue where to
look.

When I downloaded x32 drivers from Lexmark, the package wants to add a
printer. If I point to the directory when the add driver dialog appears on
my original x64 printer from the sharing tab, advanced, I get an error
message that the drivers cannot be installed except remotely, or some such.

I could use some help.

Cari, Another post in another newsgroup told me about installing the drivers
from the x32 CD.

I did, and it worked.

But it should be easier.

It will get easier as the printer manufacturers realise how popular x64 will
become! Some of them are just a little slow accepting it at the moment.
