Shared Mailbox contacts in the address book

Hello

i have a shared mailbox with contacts in it which only the people who have
access can see. Im using Outlook 2003, and need these shared contacts to
show up in the address book as if was the GAL or personal contacts.
i have tried to add it as an extra outlook address book but outlook 2003
only allows you to have 1 outlook address book open

thanks

The process of adding another user's Contacts folder to your own address
book display is somewhat involved:

1. Start with a profile that logs directly onto the other user's mailbox,
not your own.

2. On the Properties dialog for the other user's Contacts folder, make sure
that it's set to display in the Outlook Address Book and give it a display
name other than contacts, such as Joe's Contacts.

3. Close Outlook.

4. In Control Panel | Mail, edit the *same profile* to change the mailbox
from the other user's to your own. On the Advanced tab of the Exchange
Server service, add the other user's mailbox as a secondary mailbox.

5. Restart Outlook, and you should see the Joe's Contacts in your Outlook
Address Book as well as your own Contacts folder.

I have the same problem. The only way I have found to get
around this is to copy contacs and distribution lists from
the shared contact list to my personal contacts. This
seems very inefficient.

Does anyone know how to get around this?

Thank you for your very quick response. I am actually
trying to see shared contacts from a shared mailbox rather
than another person's contacts folder.

I am using Outlook 2003. I was able to see the Contacts of
the shared mailbox in my address book before I upgraded to
Office 2003.

Can you help?

Explain what you mean by "shared contacts from a shared mailbox" and how
that differs from seeing the other person's contacts in your address book.

It is the Contacts of a shared Exchange mailbox that I
have added from the Advanced tab of the Exchange Server
dialog window. Since it does not belong to another
individual, I cannot start with a profile that logs
directly into that mailbox.

Huh? "A shared Exchange mailbox" and "does not belong to another individual"
are contradictory. If it's a shared Exchange mailbox, then by definition it
has a user account associated with it that can be used to log onto it
directly. If you cannot log onto it directly to follow the instructions I
provided, you cannot see that Contacts folder in your address book.
