Shared folders not loading with net use

I have an XP workstation that is on a Windows server 2003 domain.
When connected to the domain I use net use to map client drives from a file
server.
When the computer is disconnected I re map the sharred resources to the
local hard drive. I do this with shared folders and the net use command.

When connected to the domain I can connect to either the network or local
shared folders.

When disconnected from the domain net use will not map to the shared folders.

I get the error messages
NET HELPMSG 2250
System Error 1231

Any Ideas?
