Hi. My shared documents folder is now Documents and I am unable to acess it.
I am using win xp sp2 and an admin. Any help would be apprieciated...

The desktop.ini file is missing or messed up.

Question: One of my special folders (e.g. My Documents, My Music, My
Pictures, Shared Documents, etc) has lost its name, lost its icon, or has
the wrong Task Pane template, how can I get it back?

Answer: This problem can occur if the hidden desktop.ini file in the special
folder is corrupt or missing. Here are the steps to fix this problem:
Illustrated, detailed instructions here:
http://computers.douglasthrift.net/winxpfaq.html

Scroll down a little and click on Special Folders.

What about the acess denied problem?

First that I heard of that.

Your original post said,"and I am unable to acess it."

I missed that anyway.

Type or paste the following line into Start | Run and click OK...

%allusersprofile%\Documents

For access denied, see this.

Post the error message. If not, try taking ownership (Refer Wesley's link to
MS-KB article 308421), and then re-assign permissions using CACLS.

I tried the cacls thing that it said in
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/sdperms.htm, but it didn't work, it kept saying
that there is an error....

Ahhh.. Now i am able to use calcs, however now, It still has the Documents
name.... and I tried to remake a Desktop.ini but it was access denied, even
thought I am able to acess the folder.

All I can say is double-check the permissions, so that the [Administrators /
SYSTEM / Owner] groups have full control over the folder. Also, see if there
are any special permissions assigned ("deny" entries take precedence over
"allow" entries), and if so remove them.

Thank you so much... Now my folder is fixed... but just one more thing, Why
is the music folder in the shared folders called my music, not shared music?

Might be due to Permissions problem. Re-running the CACLS.EXE command with
and additional parameter ("/T") should help.

- - -
/T Changes ACLs of specified files in the current directory
and all subdirectories.
