shared documents folder has renamed itself

Hello,
Hope someone can help. I have windows xp professional. The shared
documents folder seems to have renamed itself "documents". It won't let me
rename it back. System restore did not fix it. The documents are still
there. I found a thread on this topic, but it was not helpful. There was a
link to an article that did not work. Cannot say how or why this happened.
It may have been after I put a document into it, and then removed it. Not
sure. Are there some simple steps to fix this, as I am not an expert or a
professional. Thanks.

The shared documents folder if thats the name of the folder that was renamed
or what ever the name it was just make a NEW folder with the correct name if
you can
then cut & paste then delete the other folder. This might work give it a try.

If that don't work then go here http://computers.douglasthrift.net/winxpfaq/
and click on Spicial Folders.

Thanks for the reply, Vincent. Unfortunately, those things didn't work.
Maybe it would be ok to just leave it as it is.

Hi Ramesh,

Thanks for the reply. I have not tried that yet, as it looks like it might
be easy to mess it up. What happens after you type that in? Would it be ok
to just leave the folder named Documents instead of Shared Documents? Would
that cause a problem? Thanks in advance.

You're welcome Marian. A "read-only" attribute for a folder is required so
that the Desktop.ini is processed by the shell.

typing this cmd resets the read-only feature. I have the same problem as
marian: my folder shared documents (dutch version "Gedeelde documenten") has
renamed itself on one of my pc's and one of my laptops (4 in all on my WinXP
prof homenetwork) to documents (dutch version: "Documenten"). Typing the cmd,
altered with "documenten" iso "documents" did not change back the name.

What should be doen now?
