Shared CD ROM and DVD writer

I have a desktop pc with CD ROM drive and DVD writer and would like to share
them with other members on the workgroup network. I shared them like other
hard disks. The hard disk sharing is very successful whereas all CD or DVD
drives are unsuccessful. Can someone advise me the possible fixes.
