Bruce Chambers said:Well, yes, that's a large part of its purpose. You're, in effect, sharing
your computer with anyone else who wants to connect. You've given untold
hundreds of other people permission to access your hard drive and use your
CPU cycles. What else but a slower computer could possibly result?
Remove it.

write things that dont concern the question. dont they have anything else to
do? lame ppl? its like politicians, they reply with a question or they reply
with something else than what they should. what kinda world do we live in?

To use your example, a person was complaining about their computer being
slow while running a P2P application. As almost everyone of us know,
they also install/bring malware and other apps that hide and cause
computer performance issues. The recommendation to remove it was the
correct one - it's not worth the trouble to keep it.
Your reply was unconstructive and did not address the posters question,
which means you were bitching at yourself![]()

Here we go again...on and on and on...will it ever stop???Why cant ppl just
be constructive and simple, instead of writing lots of nonsense. Stick to
the fact/question. Dont write lots of mumba lumba which doesant concern me
or others.
Life is simple!!!! u know!!!
Apparently you (Dave) along with alot of other reply posters have
failed to do your homework and jumped to hasty conclusions based on
your biased views of online file sharing. Shaeaza is a spyware and ad
free file sharing program provided freely as an open source project on
sourceforge. The source is open for free review, and the software has
had many positive reviews.

| Sorry, the versions I've seen are malware included versions. While there
| may be a clean Open Source version, like LimeWire, there are many
| versions that include malware.
|
| With that in mind, there is no reason to have that crap installed on a
| computer.
|
That's a good point !
The software may not be malware but there are malicious web sites that have have repackaged
the P2P software to include malware.
This is not unlike going to a warez site and downloading a version of NAV which is often
accompanied by a Keylogging trojan.
And

| Yep, it was funny to watch a girl pay for LimeWire and then see all the
| other crap loaded on to her computer that she didn't know aboutAnd
| she also insisted that since she paid for LimeWire that it was legal to
| download protected music and video since she had paid for the right to
| do so

The following is a McAfee log excerpt that was received via email from someone who used one
of my AV scanning tools.
E:\NSW2005w_reg\NSW2005w_reg.part01.exe\KGNSW.EXE\KGNSW.EXE ... Found the MultiDropper-BC
trojan !!!
The file or process has been deleted.
She admitted she obtained Norton System Works from a warez site![]()
