Shadow setting default for all tools

I am trying to solve a problem for a co-worker. He says that in a particular
file, all drawing tools as well as the text box default with a drop shadow. I
told him how to change the default for each tool, but is there a way to set
it for all tools at once?

Did you tell him to select one of the shadowed objects, click on the Shadow tool
and select "No Shadow" and then right click the object and then right click the
object and select "Set Autoshape Defaults"?
