SFC looking for CD in wrong place?

K

Kenny

Using XP Pro/SP3.
Had this before but can't remember how to get round it.
Trying to run SFC it looks for XP CD but can't find it. Tried original XP,
XP/SP1, XP/SP2, and XP/SP3 discs.
My optical drives are Y & Z and I remember previously changing something so
SFC will look for the disc in one of these rather than D.
Can someone please tell me how to do this.

Have you got TweakUI installed?

If so then look on the My Computer tree > Special Folders.

Choose Installation Path and TweakUI will display the path where it
expects to find the XP setup files/CD-ROM.

You should be able to change it to a valid path to your XP CD-ROM.

Martin.

In the Registry find...

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup

Look at; SourcePath

It should point to the i386 folder and the i386 folder should be slip-streamed to the
Service Pack level of the OS. So if the OS is at SP3 level, the i386 folder should be
slip-streamed to SP3 level.

If the folder is C:\i386

SourcePath = C:\

If it is C:\windows\i386

SourcePath = C:\windows
