I need to use a printer attached to a remote computer that connects to a
server using TS. Printer is attached to USB port, HP Deskjet 540. I see other
printers on the server but can't get the local printer to work. What port,
etc should I see or how do I set it up?

Many modern printers are not visible in RDP sessions,
especially multi-function printers. I suggest you start
by installing on your client PC the driver for a very plain
printer, e.g. for an HP LJ 4L. It does not matter that
you do not have such a printer. If you can see the
printer in an RDP session then you know that you've
done the right thing, and that the problem lies with the
type of printer you have.

Some manufacturers offer print servers that are
supposed to get around the problem. I have yet to
see one that works. I usually tell my clients to buy
a simple printer without multi-function capabilities.

Pegasus,

Thanks for your help, you were correct. I installed an older Epson printer
on my local USB port and it worked perfectly. It also shows up in the
printers available once logged into TS which the HP Deskjet 540 does not.
Very annoying to find some printers work and others don't. Great way to waste
time. Again, thank you very much for solving my problem.
