Setup printers for new users?

S

Scott Townsend

I have a new Terminal Server and I want all the users to have a common set
of printers when they log in. Though they wont have a desktop for me to set
them up with. They will connect to a Specific App.

What is the best way to do this?

Thanks!

A logon script would be the obvious place for this.

Its not something I can setup in default user Profile?

Can I have a specific Script for the Terminal Server? I have the general
Login Script for the domain, though I don't want to install the printers for
each person in the domain. I just want printers for the Specific TS.

The Printers are spooled by a different PC too.

Thanks,

Yes, you can configure the Default profile with the correct printer
connections, but that will only affect new users, not users with an
existing profile.
And since printer connections tend to change over time (new
printers, new models), I would prefer to have a more flexible
solution.

You can either use the existing login script which runs on every
Terminal Server: %systemroot%\system32\UsrLogon.Cmd, or specify a
TS-specific login script in a Group Policy (better solution if you
have more than one TS).
