I am installing windows xp professional to a new hard drive. My new hd is
250Ghz which my computer reconizes as being that. But when I went to set up
windows xp and create a new partition, windows would only let me partition
127.98ghz (97.65 ghz in drive c: and 30.33ghz in drive D Windows shows
160ghz total on my comp right now with the partitions as above. Does anyone
know why windows wont reconize my hd as being 250ghz, or how I can partition
the entire 250ghz. I used the ntfs.

Try booting to xp cd for the partition and installation.

Thats because your version of winxp is pre sp2 and big Lba is not enabled

In order for winxp to see the whole drive you would have to create a
slipstreamed installation that includes sp2, or the latest sp

With things as they are you can update win then create a partion in the
spare space
