Setup of HP 7130 requires XP file I don't have

I bought a new Toshiba laptop with Windows Home XP. When I
try to connect it to my HP OfficeJet7130xi via USB, I get
a message saying it needs the file Dot4usb.sys on the
Windows XP CD-ROM. But I did not get Windows XP CD's with
the laptop. Toshiba was unable to help. I wonder if anyone
else has encountered this problem.

Look in the following folder:

C:\Windows\Driver Cache\i386\driver.cab

When I look in this folder I only see 6 choices: 5 related
to NT Kernel System and one is "mrxsmb" (system file).
Doing a search of all files and folders on my machine
results in file not found for anything starting
with "dot4."

Do you have the option for 'seeing' all hidden and system files checked?

Start Windows Explorer and from the toolbar, select Tools, then click on
Folder Options....

Look in the View tab...

8th line down after Files and Folders.... there's an icon for Hidden Files
and Folders...

Ensure that Show Hidden Files and Folders is CHECKED.

Two lines further down.....

UNCHECK.... Hide protected operating system files
