setup.msi or msiexec.exe

I have been all over the Microsoft web site looking for an answer to my
question. I also searched the news group before posting.

I am trying to load a 3rd party softrware and am getting the following
error: setup.msi error 1612. From searching Microsoft it seems it may be
linked to msiexec.exe.

I can not find a way around it or a way to download a new copy of
msiexec.exe or setup.msi. I only have dialup so downloading SP2 seems a last
resort. I have ordered SP2 but it will take 8-10 weeks. Can' wait that long.

Any and all help most appreciated.
Thnak you

Wesley,
Thank you for your suggestion. I had already tried it and the problem
remains the same.
FYI. I tried to send you an email a few days ago but your email address has
changed from what you have on file here.

Steve,

I don't know any more. Keep monitoring this thread to see if anyone else
jumps in with any more help.

E-mail address hasn't changed, it's munged. Prevents people from E-mailing
me if they can't figure out how it's been munged. Also prevents spambots
from harvesting my E-mail address.

Have you contacted the maker of the 3rd party software to see if they have
an update?
