Setup for Firewire and USB

Whenever I connect a digital device through USB or
Firewire, Windows asks what I wish to do. There is a
limited selection in the list it provides me. Is there a
way I can add applications to this list? It seems like
this should be easy enough to do, but I can't seem to
find any information on how to do it. Thanks.
