How can you set up XP for web hosting? I have static dsl
ip aaddress.

XP Home does not suport IIS - it will support Apache Webserver
(www.apache.org) though with no FrontPage extensions.

XP Pro comes with IIS5.1 which is not installed by default. It can be added
through the Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows
Components. It supports only a single website with multiple subwebs and is
limited to 10 simultaneous connections - a connection can be anything from a
single page to a hyperlink to an image file.

To get unlimited websites with unlimited connections, you need to use a
Server operating system such as the Windows 2003 Server family.

The PC must be capable of running 24/7 with zero (or very little) downtime
and should NOT be used as the same PC for gaming, web surfing, etc etc. It
should sit in a corner and be a Server!

It must be as secure as possible, you will be inviting folks in to your PC.

You still want to try? See

If you also want a mailserver, www.argosoft.com has a couple (one a freeware
version).
