Setting up Windows Mail

So i have a Vista and have i've been trying for hours to set up
Outlook-Windows Mail and i keep getting this msg. Please tell me what i'm
doing wrong, i'm not very computer smart when it comes to this kind of stuff.

PLEASE HELP!


The host 'SMTP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.
Subject 'Test', Account: 'POP3 (1)', Server: 'SMTP', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

Which are you trying to set up. Windows Mail, or Outlook? Either way, your
settings are not even close. The Host is not SMTP, and your server is your
mail server, (usually what is after the @ sign in your address). Your
server is not SMTP.

Bruce, thank you, it worked, on my first try. I used the mail server
(Comcast) and it worked!! thank you! thank you! thank you!

Now i have yet another question. My outlook at work (much older version), a
little window pops up on the right hand corner when i msg has hit my inbox,
can i set that feature up on this version?

You're welcome. MS Outlook isn't even close to WLMail and there is no such
notification available.

I don't know about Windows Mail, but on my PC with Outlook Express I have it
set to "Ding" when an email arrives. You might check this out in
tools/options/General tab--where it says "Send/receive", check "play sound".
