For starters, you need an email address. Do you already have one?
If so, what is the part after the @ symbol?
The company that provides your connection to the Internet will also
give you an email address, if you need one; or else you can get a
free one from http://gmail.com.

Unfortunately that free service won't work with Windows Mail or other POP
clients.

To use Yahoo mail with these, you need either a 3rd part utility like YPOPS
or you pay Yahoo for the premium service. That one does work with POP
clients.

US-based free Yahoo accounts have webmail access only, no POP access.
Windows Mail handles POP mail but not Yahoo webmail. There are two
Yahoo solutions:

1. How did you access Yahoo mail before? If you are happy with
webmail via your browser, you can continue to use that.

2. Pay Yahoo to get their premium "Mail Plus" service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/overview/index.html
and use the special settings for that service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html

If you are OK with using a non-Yahoo email address, you have three other
solutions:
* Use the email address assigned to you by your ISP.
* Get a free Gmail account.
* Get a free Hotmail/Live account, and use it with the Windows Live Mail email program.
