I installed W2K Pro and for many months just logged in as the Administrator.
Now I find my computer would be more secure if I create a "power user". I
have been able to create a Power User but how do I transfer my Outlook
Express accounts, messages, signatures, etc. over to the Power User from the
Administrator?

Thanks!

You can't transfer the OE accounts of 'mail' and 'news', you'll have to set
them up again using the PowerUser. Once you're done, go back to the
Admin account and search the Admin's profile for a whole folder of
..DBX files, which are all your messages. You can then copy them over
to the newly created PowerUser profile.

I don't remember what the location of these files is - and can't get into
"Documents and Settings" at this moment, because the PowerUser I'm
using online doesn't have access <grin> I just give the PowerUser account
'full control' to "Program Files" and of course my personal data files.

I was afraid of that. I have my OE backed up with OEBackup so I guess I'll
do it that way. Where do I go to give my power user full control of the
Program Files and personal data files?

Thanks again,

Using the Admin account, click on the directory, right-click, select
properties, select 'Security', add your PowerUser (or PowerUser
Group), select 'Full Control', select 'Advanced', click 'Reset permissions
on all child objects and enable propagation of inheritable permissions.',
click 'Apply'.

Do this for 'Program Files' and the directory(ies) for your personal
non-system files.

If you setup Outlook Express for a user,
the mail and news messages are stored in:
"Profile=>Local Settings=>Identities=>
{..........}=>Microsoft=>Outlook Express"

This includes all the newsgroups on your
news server (so you don't have to download
them again). I save these .dbx files in
my personal data area and burn a CD of all
my personal files, prior to doing a new
install (for whatever reason).
