Non-Administrator cannot log on

I've run across in interesting problem in W2K. I have created new user
accounts and granted them Users and Power users access. When I try to log on
with the new user name and password. I am returned to the user log on box. If
I log on as administrator, no problem. If I change the new user name to allow
administrator status, no problem. I cannot log on with a user name that is
not an administrator. Any suggestions?

You probably have inappropriate ntfs permissions in your system32
folder, thus preventing non-admin users from executing commands
such as userinit.exe.

Hello,

Sorry for the repeated posts here. I have gotten a message each time I
tried to post something that there was a problem and my message was not
posted. Try again. So guess what all 3 attermpts show up....??

Anyway if what you say may be the case, how can I correct this?

Tried that but when I got to Related Topics, click resulted in script error.
Could not access it. There must be a work around.

It seems your help files are broken. Did you install SP4?

To set folder permissions, navigate to the desired folder,
right-click it, click Properties, then Permissions.

If you need detailed explanations, get onto www.jsiinc.com,
then look for "ntfs permissions".

Yes, I installed SP4. I also had to re-install scripting by downloading and
installing scripten.exe to restore Explorer functions, And to correct
scripting errors encountered with Norton Internet Security 2005.

As for the above problem. Thank you the jsiinc site was very helpful.
Here's the link http://www.jsiinc.com/subf/tip2700/rh2714.htm

I also attempted this procedure using Microsoft's document 266118 as
suggested by Dave Patrick. The microsoft doc was incomplete and left out a
couple steps. (See my response to him in the above post.

Thanks again. (PS Wonder how it got messed up in the first place???)
