Setting the default 'Contact' to use

Hi Group,

I recently upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003. I copied the
contacts, calender notes and appointments from the old outlook.pst to
Outlook 2003.

Now, In my outlook 2003 Contacts folder, there is a subfolder called
Cotacts. When I go into Contacts, there are to 'Contacts' listed in the
folder. How do I set the one that I copied to become the default. Same
thing applies to Notes, Calender and Appointments.

Thanks.

How did you do the "copy"? Be exact.

In Outlook 2003, I open my old 'outlook.pst'. I then select 'Contact'
and right-click and "copy-to" and palce it on my Outlook 2003 contact
folder. The old contact get created under the outlook 2003 contact and I
don't know how to merge them into one.

Thanks.

You should have selected the contents of the contact folder (select all)
rather than the folder itself - that would've copied the contacts to your
contacts folder. You can still do this now by moving the items - highlight
one of the contacts, go to edit | select all or press CTRL+A, then
right-click, move, and select the location you wish.

The correct approach would have been to copy the contents of the old
Contacts folder, not the folder itself. To repair what you've done, open
the copied Contacts subfolder, select any contact, cress CTRL-A so select
all Contacts, right-click on any contact, and choose Move to Folder. When
the browse window opens, choose your main Contacts folder and click OK. All
your contacts will move up one level to the main Contacts folder. You can
then delete the copied Contacts subfolder.

Thanks for the information. I'll give it a try. Can I do this for
"Calendar" and "Task" as well?

You can do this for any folder that has subfolders.
