Setting not remembered

Whilst not the most important thing in the general scheme of things. I'm
steadily trying to get all of the little annoyances from XP (Home) on my new
pc ( - never had any problems on W98!!)

XP doesn't seem to remember the setting for showing the windows content
while dragging. I've ticked the box :-

Display properties /Appearance/Effects/ Show windows contents while
dragging

This works until the pc is restarted at which point it reverts back to what
it was and the box is again unticked!

I've tried "savesettings.reg" from
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

but this doesn't seem to work - any other ideas anyone??

Many thanks

Hi Alan,

If you have a Dell PC, then the problem is due to "Dell User Experience" utility / software. Check with Dell Technical Support to sort out this problem. (Courtesy of David Candy)

Workaround: Use this tiny utility created by David Candy, and place it in the Startup folder. It enables the "Show windows contents while dragging" on every restart.

Get the utility from this Newsgroup post:

Yes you guessed correctly - I have a new 3.4GHz Dell 8300.

The work around works great but as you suggest I will check with Dell
Technical Support and see what their comments are!!

Many thanks
