setting media player 10 as default

pls help me find out where the root of the problem is:-

until recently I was using media player 9 for playing music.
then I upgraded to media player 10, and several things happened.

First, although I still have the tempo control enhancement, I cannot get the
visualisations at the same time.
(I can live with that....)

Second, files which I had downloaded and played automatically (i.e. by
default) through media player) now suddenly play through Irfanview, which
does not have the options which I need and get through media player. But I
haven't set the Irfanview to be my default!! This is disastrous!!!

HOW CAN I SET THE SYSTEM SO THAT "MY MUSIC" WILL AUTOMATICALLY PICK UP MEDIA
PLAYER 10?

ALTERNATIVELY, HOW CAN I GET BACK TO SERIES 9? AND WILL THIS SOLVE THE
PROBLEM?

Open up WMP, go to Tools > Options and then go to File Types. Click Select
All and then press ok :)
