I tried to set an image as my wallpaper in IE6, and got
the error message, "Access is Denied." and a button
for 'OK'. This is the first time that has happened, why
is that? How can I fix it? I am using Win XP home. Thanks.

It looks like someone is stopping you from changing the wallpaper.
Some parents do that. Some bosses do that.
If either of the above is relevant, then please ask them.

Hey, that isn't the case, this is my home PC, and I am
the primary user, so how can I fix it? Once again, thanks!

Checkpoints!

* See if you have write access to this registry key: [you should, normally]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

* See if you have full access to this folder"
"C:\Documents and Settings\Your user profile\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer"

* Delete the existing "Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp" in the above folder and try again.

In microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser,
Thanks.

Hey, Thanks, that worked. Just one more question, when I
went to C:\Documents and Settings\My user profile, it was
hidden, and this was the first time I noticed that it was
hidden, normally it never was. I figure there must be a
link between that and my original question. So I am
wondering how it ended up being hidden. Thanks very much!

You're welcome. BTW, which procedure worked?

As for the hidden attribute, not sure why it happened...

I deleted Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp from where you
said, and like the second procedure, I did have complete
access to that folder, but I had to 'unhide' it. Thanks...
