SET Program Access And Defaults Under XP SP1

How can i change the set program access and defaults
under windows sp with sp1 installed as it was messed
about with by a 1 yr old ;-( not i cant get access to the
programs i have tryied a system restore but after the pc
reboots it cant load the rstrui.exe file due to not
having the correct rights please can someone help or do i
have to reinstall everything again thanks

Home or Pro ?
There is a KB documenting how to restore NTFS
permissions to their defaults for Pro.

i have managed to install a nother registry editor
program and get access to the registery just need to
figure out what to edit now to restore it

Bummer it is Home as the toolset to apply the
installation default template does not run in Home.
Are you sure it is a registry issue rather than NTFS
permissions or missing files ?

Yep it was done under the set program access and defaults
that i do know.

and if you right click on the a file like outlook and go
to run as then where it has protect my data from
unothirised data dn viruses ect and untick it it will run
but if it wants to call up on other files like dll's then
it wont run

or do you think it might be something else?
