Services stopped

Yesterday I had a serious issue. When I boot up, everything was working well.
A Windows updates icon appeared in the tray but quickly disappeared. Shortly
thereafter, certain services were shut down. My network services, dvd rom and
sound card all shut down and were unusable. Finally after many reboots, I
caught the updater before it disappeared and had 8 updates installed. Also,
in msconfig, startup tab, only msmsgs was unchecked. I enabled that.
Everything is fine now. Anyone know what could have caused the services to
start and then stop shortly after boot?

Check the Event Viewer for system errors at the time that you observed this
problem. Post back if you have further questions.

I did . It was event ID 7032. Something about

The Service Control Manager tried to take a corrective action (Restart the
service) after the unexpected termination of the Windows Management
Instrumentation service, but this action failed with the following error:
An instance of the service is already running.
