Services.exe slowing my system down?

Even when I don't have anything running on my CP Home
machine, the memory usage for program services.exe can be
over 171,000kb and it is far and away the user of memory.

The largest CPU usage goes to the System Idle Process.

Any suggestions? The system is incredibly slow.
