Services applet doesn't work!

M

MS

Before, in Start Menu, Programs, Administrative Tools, I could click on
"Services", or "Component Services", and see a list of Services on the
computer. With that applet one can start services that aren't running, stop
one that is running, and with "Properties", choose if a service is disabled,
starts manually, or automatically.

However, now when I click on the shortcut to start that applet, the
"Services" applet does not start. Only "Notepad" starts, with a text file
called "Services.msc."

How do I get the services applet to work again?

Click Start, Run and type:
MMC.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.msc"

If this helps, the original problem is due to corrupt .MSC file association.
