Service Packs: Security, etc... HELP?

Hi ...

I want to install Windows 2000 Pro onto my system. I was
wondering, do i have to install all the service packs? and
all of the Critical updates?

Do the newer updates include the old ones?

Think twice before you install SP4. My Win2000 (SP3) was
working fine for 1 year and just stopped working after
applying SP4...
