Service pack 3

Hi.
In UK,have today downloaded and installed Microsoft service pack 3,had no
problems.

If I recall took under 1 hr (did not styay with comp during download.

Friend started his download /// install @ 7 am today,sixteen hrs later
wizard is still appearing
to install pack 3,had to cancel in the end.

So Q ,when was service pack 3 released ?,he tends to think it was 3 weeks
ago.

Anyone idea's as to why so long and doing little.

WinXP SP3 was released in early May-08 but it was only released to Automatic
Updates on 10 Jul-08.

Need much more info. Is he running virus program? What firewall?
Installation method? (from CD. download and install, download save install,
auto update)????? Download speed?
