service pack 2

After downloading service pack 2 i always recieve
(instllation unsucessful) when i try to install

That might be because service pack 2 won't be released until sometime
next year (end of 1st quarter or beginning of 2nd quarter if I remember
right). You might want to be careful of viruses, if you have service pack
2. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

Microsoft plans on releasing Service Pack 2 in mid 2004.
Do not attempt to download "bogus versions" from websites
which claim to have SP2.

I'm not surprised. WinXP's Service Pack 2 hasn't even entered
beta testing yet, much less been released to the public, so it's bound
to be problem-prone. If you didn't elect to save the old system files
when you installed it, or if the uninstall capability hasn't been
perfected yet, you've no choice but to wipe your hard drive and
reinstall WinXP (and all of your applications) from scratch.

Additionally, you should also probably report the web site from
which you obtained your unauthorized copy of WinXP's SP2 to
http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/reporting/.
