I got this before & my system crashed, I had to re install windowsxp & then
take everything out & installed it again [did this 4 times]. Then I ran in to
software problems with sp 2 still in my system, so I called dell & they told
me to call MS & I did & they told me to call Dell. So why should I keep
downloading sp2 if it crashes?

I had my auto update to auto download & MICROSOFT just released it, & this
is how I got in to problems. So for me it is best set mine to give me a list
before downloading.

I need some help before downloading like what to do or how to stop all of
this back & forth, if someone says they will support something they should
not tell you they do not do it.

I am kind of :-(> with MS because they seem not to want to support or deal
with any problems. I sent them & DELL each others e-mail telling me to
contact the other for support.

Microsoft should support there software no matter what computer it is on, it
says they support all there stuff. But they do not tell you until you call
them they do not support things. I am sorry MS, but you all got to do a
better job of supporting your stuff. What if I download sp2 & things do not
work & I call both you & dell & get the run a round again?

Also how can I get help on-line if my computer did not work after I got sp2.

I think that more needs to be addressed on sp2 like;

WHAT DO I DO IF MY COMPUTER CRASHES AFTER I DOWNLOAD SP2?

Thanks & have a blessed day.

Bob

You should download the entire SP2 package from here..

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...be-3b8e-4f30-8245-9e368d3cdb5a&displaylang=en

You should also look at the website..

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=fh;ln;xpsp2getinstall

Re. support.. when you bought your Dell, the company should have told you
they, under the terms of supplying OEM Microsoft Windows XP, are solely
responsible for operating system support.. Dell support are more than aware
of this fact, so to suggest calling Microsoft is essentially just passing
the buck..

Support has to be paid for one way or another, and you have paid for Dell
support.. if you want full support from Microsoft, you will have to buy a
FULL version.. Dell should have made you aware of this too, except that you
would probably have told them to shove their computer where the sun never
shines.. maybe you should have done that anyway..

I went to the link & downloade the program & it told me it could not read my
processer, it told me to the web page [had a web page link] & the pogram
told me I do not have a browesr

It showed it on the update lists that the auto update gave me, but I have the
home user one [sorry, should have said this in my post]

What program did you download?
It still sounds like something was wrong with your computer.
Check with all your hardware and software manufacturers and verify
everything is compatible with SP-2.
Compatibility with Windows XP or Windows XP SP-1 may not be sufficient.
Very carefully follow the Service Pack Installation Checklist you were
previously referred.

You have a Dell with OEM Windows XP.
Think of OEM as having been manufacturer, distributed and sold by Dell with
Microsoft having no part in it.
All your support, if any, comes from Dell.
Microsoft will support the installation of SP-2, but you first have to make
sure nothing 3rd party (Dell or others) is causing the problems..
