Service Pack 2

I just recently downloaded service pack 2 and was immediately disappointed.
Basically, it slowed down my system performance, even causing some lockups
which have never ever happened. I take pride in keeping my machine running
smoothly, but am a little miffed at the fact that I download SP2 and it does
more annoying thing than any virus or trojan I have ever picked up. Since
installing it, I have not been able to do a single thing on my desktop.
Trying to run programs and the like resulted in errors and asking if I wanted
to send a report... A lot of good that will do. Anyway, it came down to me
running a system restore to fix the problem. Now, why did SP2 do this? I
would like to keep my computer up to date, but if SP2 runs that way, I'll
take my chances with SP1.

Hi Pete, I am also very disappointed with Service Park 2. Unlike you I could
not restore system, the system not restored, I tried to set restore point, it
did not work. Is there any other ways to uninstal Service Park 2? Heeelp!

For the first couple of boots, XP may be a little slow but it settles down..
you state that you like to keep your system running smoothly, so I will
assume that you regularly run anti-spyware software, and empty temp files
now and again..

Hello Pete

I think you have done as so may people did.
Downloaded the SP2 without an viruschecker or firewall.

You are aware that within 20 minutes after installation your computer could
be infected by Spy- Ad- or other malisious ware.
As you download the SP2 installation an worm seems to be slipping in and
althought the system restores,- sometimes it, the worm restores itself also.

I´m not sure if it is an worm, it could be sasser itself.

The people i have spoken to who had installed an viruschecker and firewall,
and downloaded SP2 have none of these problems.

Therefore my suggestion that you downloaded without an viruschecker.

But than again, there are since the introduction of SP2 serious problems
that had to be fixed.
Maybe it is been solved and maybe you have no troubles in the future.

Greetings from the Netherlands

Hi, Pete,

Sounds like some of the problems I am having with a newer system
recently received, with SP2 installed.

If you find yours runs better with SP1, would you let us know?

TIA,

Feather

Poor man!
My three computers are all working fine with SP2 installed! Not much
problem.
