service pack 2 shutdown

After being nagged practically to death by the operating system to install
service pack 2 I finally did but every time I do my compute shuts down after
booting up normally and starts dumping memory after saying the reason is
that something tried to write to read only memory. What going on with
service pack 2 anyway???

Well, it would be helpful to know what the something is that's trying to
write outside of its space. There will be a file listed, and without that
information, it's extremely difficult to help you.

The problem is likely a driver that needs to be updated to function properly
with SP2. You may need to boot in Safe Mode to deal with this, but in any
case, you will need that specific information from the crash screen.

Perhaps you are unfamilar with a Windows XP memory dump info. There is not
file name but only the statement that a program tried to write to read only
memory and the following register dump or whatever.
