service pack 2 issue

i installed service pack 2 on my computer, and after
restart, complete nothing. literally, nothing on my
computer would open. i had normal icons, my start button
would open its programs, but when i clicked a program it
would start to load, and just shut down. some of them
wont even open. only programs that opened were avg
antivirus, spybot, solitaire, etc. internet explorer
would not open, my computer, my documents, realplayer,
system restore, etc. i found a way to get to add/remove
programs by dragging a file to the recycle bin and
uninstalled service pack 2. this helped my computer, so
then i re-downloaded sp2 and re-installed. again same
problem. uninstalled again, and came here. any
suggestions? should i, or should i not, or how can i fix
it? thanks in advance.
