Service Pack 2 - failure to download

I have XP set up for Automatic Updates and a couple of days ago I was
notified of new updates via the system tray. When I opened it I was presented
with a box which told me it was service pack 2 and so i accepted the update.

However, instead of the huge download I was expecting the box just
disappeared and nothing further occurred. Now when I look for updates nothing
is coming up and yet SP2 does not appear in my installation history.

I have the same problem. I keep forcing a fresh auto
update but nothing changes. I click "Download" and the
auto update icon just disappears from the system tray.

Microsoft are forcing us to use auto update for SP2 but
it doesn't work!!!!!!

Absolutely same problem. I can't believe there isn't a
work around. Come on Microsoft, get this fixed!!!!

It is by design.
Microsoft is daily limiting the number of SP-2 downloads through
Automatic Update.
Once you click Update, you again need to wait for SP-2 to come to you.
The time could be short or days.
