Service Pack 1 installation failure

I upgrading my workstation from Windows 2000 to Windows XP
pro. The installation did not inculde Service pack 1.
After downloading I try to install, but receive an error
message stating that the "D:\" drive was full and would
not install. I looked at Disk management and found that
there was a 30MB primary partition installed. What ??? is
going on??? Anyone have any ideas?

What's the free space amount in the D: drive? You'll need at least 150 MB to
complete the installation of SP1.

The size was set to 30 MB. The remainder of the drive
space was given to the C:\ ntfs drive. I don't know how
or why this was created.
