I have XP Home Edition. When I installed the serivice pack
1 update my computer would not boot out of safe mode. I
tried restoring the computer to an earlier date but it did
not help. The error message from SFC/SCANNOW was "the
specific error code is 0x000006ba [the RPC server is
unavailable]. I can't find out how to send this
information to Microsoft since my system is oem(?). I was
in touch with a representative from emachines, but could
not resolve the problem & I will have to restore my system
(which is no easy task since my cd drive won't work in
safe mode).
Can someone send this information on to Microsoft so they
can check for incompatability problems?
Also - it was not a virus I checked.

I meant re-installation.

Full XP Recovery doesn't use safemode. Just boot from the CD.
