MS updates suggest I should back up before installing,
should I be concerned if I have not backed up Office
files - probability of issue? any back outs available to
recover?

Did you ever get a reply on this? I have the same question.

Also, I decide to go for archiving my files during the
install. Is this a good idea?

I was ok with my choices this far, but actually I've tried
to install Service Pack 1 four times so far and each time
it locks my computer and I have to turn it off. So,
complete failure.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I would love some help.

Juliet

Hi,

Backup files you've created, as is the general rule before doing any
updating or upgrading. Office can always be reinstalled, the files you've
created are what cannot be replaced.

If you follow the update guidelines, you will probably have no issues.
Ensure that you disable your antivirus software before beginning.
