Service pack 1 and slipstreaming

Hi folks;
Just read that I do not need to have service pack 1 to upgrade to sp2. It is
time to do some major house cleaning and am going to do a fresh install. My
windows cd is the first version I would like to slipstream the cd with the
service pack 2 cd that I have received from Microsoft, does my original cd
need to have sp1 to slipstream as I am having trouble?
Thanks in advance

No SP1 isn't necessary. Where did you get your CD from? Is it a retail
copy, a generic OEM copy, or did you get it with your computer?

Try using Autostreamer 1.0.33 ....works very well. You shouldn't have any
problem with either OEM or Gold. My installation disk is XP SP1 and I
successfully slipstreamed SP2 with it and then used Nero to burn the disk.
The Windows slipstreamer seems to give errors when it's an SP1 disc.

1) You don't need SP1, but certain larger manufacturers (Dell,HP,...) inserted
updates into their OEM discs according to this site:
http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html
These may cause an error message during "Integration" phase of
slipstreaming.(see site)

2) You forgot to IDENTIFY your "TROUBLE".

3) Try Google search for: XP slipstream SP2
Typed like that. "Win-Help","iamnotageek","Paul Thurrott", all good sites.
I just did sp2 into XPsp1, yesterday, using info from these sites.
[In particular, I used Paul T's method. The "drag and drop" idea is
supreme.(for both, since I have sp2 on CD, too.)]
Used CDB_XPPro3 to burn, ISOBuster to get the Boot Image.(Both are Freeware.)
Tested result by loading/running Recovery Console from new CD. Works!
