slipstream command "Integerate"

Basically what does the "integrate" command do when you slipstream an
original cd with sp3. The original cd being winxp pro vintage 2001(no
sp's). My original installation from 2001 on a P3, 500 mhz machine is fully
patched now, but just incase I have to rebuild it someday, I thought I would
make a slipstream cd/dvd. Is it simply replacing older files with newer
ones? Still confused if I need sp1 before slipstream or not, opinions vary
from google searching. TIA

It adds and updates files.

There's no danger in trying to integrate SP3 into your CD and you can do it
with the CD you have.

The original CD - obviously - will remain unchanged.

If you have never done somehting like this - you may be more successful
using something like nLite for your first attempt. Create an ISO and burn
it to CD.

There are two good utilities for creating a "SlipStreamed" CD
1) Autostreamer - Easy to use.
2) nLite - which is more complex but you can integrate
your PCI card drivers and more. http://www.nliteos.com/nlite.html
nLite Guide: http://www.nliteos.com/guides.html

I use AutoStreamer, it's easy to use and for the most part self explanatory

The slipstreamed CD you create will not include any specific drivers
for your motherboard, audio, video, network, etc. Those you will
need to download from your PC manufacture's or motherboard's
web site.

Also: Abreviated from a post by "Poprivet"
You need to 'Test' that slipstreamed CD you
created or you may be in for a big surprise,
as sometimes they are defective and do not work.

Funny how things get started when people share information on the internet,
or even in person.

Slipstreaming to any retail or generic OEM installation version of XP prior
to SP3 with SP3, including those without any SP, is easily done and doable.

The SP1 minimum requirement is when installing SP3 in the actual XP windows
environment. And, its SP1A, not SP1.

Tx to all, I ended up using Autostreamer, very easy so I also did my Xp
Media center, Xp Home version and Vista.. burned them with Roxio. Have not
tried them yet but the process was quite simple.

In my opinion, you're only half done. You have to try it to see if it
works. Obviously, you don't won't to lose what you have now. First, back
that up to an external hard drive with an imaging program that can "see"
that hard drive in its restoration function from its boot media.

Be sure you handle those CDs with pristine care and keep them in CD cases,
not sleeves, in a dark place. Apply a sticker on the case as to what they
are and number/letter combination needed for XP to install.

Hi Meebers,

A Slip-Stream CD for XP to Service Pack 3 is doable, but .Net Framework
version 3.0 does not install within Windows XP operating systems with
Service Pack 3 installed. .Net Framework 3.0 will install in Service Pack
2.0 with easy.

I would create a Slip-Stream CD for XP with Service Pack 2 and updates
all hotfixes and optional programs, including .Net Framework Versions,
before you download and install Service Pack 3.

Just a word of warning, through my experiences with the product. Test
for yourself, if you don't take my word for it.

Your experience is not my experience.

I have installed hundreds of times with SP3 integrated and then installed
..NET Framework 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 with no problems.

Using Windows Update, "Optional Updates"
does not list .NET 3.0 Redistributable as an option for SP3 users.

But this does not stop anyone from skipping Windows Update
and downloading the 3.0 Redistributable and installing successfully.

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...0B-F857-4A14-83F5-25634C3BF043&displaylang=en

The .NET Framework 3.0 redistributable bootstrapper package

(2.8MB) installs 3.0 by downloading the remaining files using the

internet during the installation process. To download the full

redistributable package scroll down the web page to the section

titled: "Instructions".

My own test method ( I use removable HDD trays) is: Do an install on a
spare HDD that I have used for many years and after completion, switch it to
the Master position and see how it works, sort of validating the process.
Original HDD removed for the test. Tx for the comments, will try the Xp
pro version next week and post back.
