Service failed to Start

I am getting the following error message when I try to intall Windows Defender:

"Service 'Windows Defender Service' (WinDefend) failed to start. Verify
that you have sufficient privileges to start system services"

Anybody have ideas how I can correct this, and get it installed?

Are you on Win 2000 by any chance, and if so did you look 18 threads down
below this one in this newsgroup?
