Server Upgrade: Old disks to New Server box

Hi all,

I'm going to upgrade the current server. I bought a new box: new
motherboard, nic, video card and of course, new SCSI controller.

I know that it won't work if I just move the disks into the new box.
I've read http://support.microsoft.com/?id=249694 and know it maybe
the best way to do the upgrade.

I wonder if this will work: I put in another SCSI controller to the
old box, load up the driver and then, take out this SCSI Controller
and disks, put them all into the new box having disks connect to this
SCSI Controller. Will the system starts up properly and let me install
all the drivers for the new hardware? Any experience on this?

Any help will be appreciated.

I answered this in another group I think but:

Best idea would be to backup the data, move the drives and do an inplace
upgrade with the hardware installed.
